FAQ
Is DevSquad a freelancer marketplace?
No, DevSquad is a consulting firm, and our team members are full-time employees trained by our Tech leads. Our team members stay with us long-term. They are not temporary workers hired in a rush for a single project.
Where is your team based?
Our leadership team is located in Utah, and we welcome our clients to attend in-person meetings and workshops. Outside of the leadership team, our staff is mainly based in Brazil, but we also have team members in other LATAM countries.
When I hire DevSquad, who owns the intellectual property?
All intellectual property we create for you will be yours. We don’t share code across projects, and you will have access to all your code on GitHub, designs on Figma, and all other intellectual property we create.
How safe will my intellectual property and data be if I work with DevSquad?
Our company follows SOC 2 standards. Each of our team members receives a DevSquad Mac Computer, where your data is encrypted and protected. Your data never leaves DevSquad computers. We are the only outsourcing development company that provides this level of security.
How does your billing work?
We charge a fixed monthly fee per Squad. The cost of your Squad is determined by the number of developers, product managers, quality assurance analysts, and product designers assigned to your product. We determine the right squad size for you after our initial call.
What technologies does DevSquad work with?
Laravel and Node.js are our top picks for the backend. React and Vue.js are our favorites for the front end. For mobile, we opt for React Native. These tools enable us to bring ideas to life, collaborate efficiently, and deliver exceptional products.
What is the reason DevSquad does not work with other technologies like Ruby on Rails, Python, etc?
We picked technologies that would allow us to be efficient and build the largest range of products. There is nothing wrong with other technologies, but no one can be masters at everything. We are the absolute best in the technologies we specialize in.
What makes other dev agencies able to work with so many technologies?
You're probably looking at staff augmentation or a recruiting firm. Their goal is to place a body in your organization, and they leave it to you to develop and manage that person. DevSquad is a consulting firm committed to the success of your product. We give you a team with playbooks and processes backed by a strong leadership team and a track record of success. As the old saying goes, players win games and teams win championships.
How long will it take to launch version one of my product?
We build a custom plan for each client, but on average, we take 3-6 months to release version one of your product.
What happens after my product is “done”?
We believe software is never done. Software is either released or not released. We work with you to release it as soon as possible. After your product is released, we continue to develop your vision, add new features, and improve your product. Upon your readiness, we help you transition the product to an in-house team
How is the knowledge transfer and the transition to my in-house team done?
We understand that most companies hire DevSquad to accomplish a specific mission. Once the mission has been accomplished, we will assist you in transitioning the project to your in-house team by providing documentation, training, pair programming, and everything else needed to make the transition smooth and enjoyable.
Is DevSquad just for big enterprise companies?
No, even though DevSquad has big Fortune 500 companies as clients, we love working with founders and small and medium businesses too.
Does DevSquad require a long-term contract?
No, our contracts are month-to-month, and you cancel with a 7 days notice. That being said, we like to have a 90-day plan in place for all the products we are working on, and on average, clients stay with us for 18 months.
When you don't have client work for your team members, what happens to them?
They sharpen their skills by working on our own products, such as DevStats, so they're ready to take on the next client.
Is DevSquad a large company, and how long have you been around?
No, DevSquad is a small to medium-sized company with about 100 employees, and we've been in business since 2014. Our company is small enough to allow you to meet our founders and work with them but large enough to give you all the resources you need to build a successful product.
